The Challenge

Deidre DeJear, a small business owner, a former basketball coach, and a strong advocate for voting rights, ran for Governor of Iowa against incumbent, Kim Reynolds.

Momentum was tasked with building a solid, long-lasting digital fundraising program that included email, text, social media, and direct to donate ads, with little amount of resources. Deidre ran a small-scale campaign in the 2020 cycle, and had a small list to start with, including personal contacts, Iowa leaders, and active Democrats in Iowa.

The DeJear team needed a digital program that could start up quickly and be built to last until the general election.

The Momentum team built a strong email program with Deidre’s unique voice, a strong text program built on bringing in new donors and making them last, and an echoing voice on Twitter that helped bring national attention to Deidre race.

The Final Result

In just over a year, Momentum raised $1.1 million for Deidre’s grassroots digital campaign, using a multi-pronged approach to fundraising.
